The eighth graders of the Mendocino K-8 school recently had their eighth grade trip. They went to the California Academy of Sciences on Friday, May 9 and returned on May 10. They visited the planetarium, aquarium, and the rainforest part of the academy. All the kids were driven there and back in one of the drivers’ cars. Their drivers, Sage, Mrs. Frederick, Josh, Jade, Cally, Leslie, and Nicole pretty much made the whole thing possible and a lot more enjoyable.
The eighth grade trip is an annual thing and is a highlight of the eighth graders. But the people I interviewed had some mixed feelings about the trip. I noticed that a lot of people complained about how many other schools there were and how cramped it was. Apparently the sleeping arrangements were not ideal. People also said that the food was not very good and some people weren’t able to purchase any. But it wasn’t all complaints. People loved the planetarium and said that the drive there and back was very pleasant. They also talked about the weather and how it was hot but still a nice temperature.

Overall the eight graders really enjoyed their experience. This once in a lifetime thing was executed very well by the chaperones and the school who planned it. The locations they chose and the time they chose for it was great and worked very well. So I would say that this trip went without fail and was a very memorable and a core memory for these students.
