Michael Jordan was a ‘living legend’ who arguably had one of the best basketball careers of all time. He played for the Chicago Bulls and ended his career with the Washington Wizards in 2003.

Micheal Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York, on February 17, 1963. He grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina. He was a good student and excelled as an athlete in three sports: football, baseball, and basketball. He was the first high school player to average a triple-double (double digits in points, assists, and rebounds) and carried his team to state championships in basketball. He also joined his school’s varsity basketball team, which would kickstart his later NBA career. Jordan attended the University of North Carolina where he majored in cultural geography. During his third and final year with the Tar Heels, He averaged 17.7 points per game. In his freshman year, he made a game-winning jump shot to secure a national title for UNC. Jordan was selected to the NCAA All-National First Team in his sophomore year and his junior year.
Michael Jordan left the University of North Carolina after his junior year of college and started his NBA career in 1984 with the Chicago Bulls. He played for the Bulls for 13 seasons, during which he was very successful. In those seasons Jordan accomplished a lot. He played in about 1,072 regular-season games. He averaged 30.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 2.3 steals per game, and had a total of 32,292 points. Then he transferred to the Washington Wizards, where he played for two more seasons, totaling 15 seasons, (1984-2003). (Keep in mind if you add 1984 plus 15 it equals 1999 instead of 2003 but that is because Jordan took a couple of breaks from basketball). In 1984 and 1992 Jordan played in the Olympics for the United States men’s basketball team and both times he got a gold medal.

Jordan sadly retired from the NBA in 2003, he said it was from physical and mental exhaustion, and the loss of motivation to play basketball and desire to play baseball. Jordan signed a minor league baseball contract at age 31, which was too old to make it into the MLB.
Right now he is doing well, he is now a co-owner of a NASCAR team named 23XI Racing. He also continues to be involved with the brand Nike, for his shoe called Air Jordan, which made Nike around 46 billion dollars, while Michael Jordan made 1.5 billion dollars with the partnership.
