Kids have a lot of pressure on them, with school, extracurriculars, and home life. We surveyed the Magazine class to find out what exactly causes stress for these people. We had asked 5 questions and received 17 answers; the survey was anonymous.

The data that we received from our form showed that no one who filled it out had absolutely no stress. The top things that caused stress in students were school and homework. Out of the 9 options, 14 people picked school and 17 people picked homework. To us, these results were not surprising. We also asked a question on mental health. 52.9% of people said theirs was pretty good, 11.8% of people said it was in the middle, 5.9% of people said it was bad, and some would rather not say. But out of all of these kids, only 23.5% of people said their mental health was good. As you can probably tell, we should have a way higher number than that.
Imed Bouchrika, a chief data scientist and co-founder of the website Research.com, researched student health in 2025. The study didn’t say how many kids were studied but this is the information we thought was relevant. Bouchrika stated, “While schools teach and, to a degree, simulate real-world scenarios for students, they also introduce—maybe {sic} unintentionally another {sic} real-world experience. And, that is student stress.” In the article, Bouchrika kept explaining how many factors can cause students to feel anxious at school. Like studying, schoolwork, and separation from family (mostly for college students.) He found that students sometimes suffer from the same amount of stress as a teacher does.

We hope this article inspires parental figures, teachers, and students to not put too much pressure on kids since they also have feelings and need to feel like they have freedom of choice and security in their relationships. Parental figures especially should try their best to support their children since your kids have to live with you and your actions make the biggest impact on their lives. Teachers also make an impression on children. They are supposed to be teaching them valuable life skills and a good teacher can change how you feel about a subject and a supportive teacher can make you more inclined to do your best in anything.
