Mendocino K-8 volleyball players are excited about the club season. The club season at the K-8 is open to 5th, 6th, and 7th graders. The 8th graders can play but it is at the high school. The 5th, and 6th graders play on a team together and the 7th graders have their team. There will be a couple of practices a week, and near the end of the season, the teams will go to Redding for a tournament. This year there is a possibility that we will host a tournament at the Mendocino K-8 gym, so there is the possibility for two tournaments. Unlike the regular volleyball season, the club season isn’t directly associated with the school. While the school season is free, the club season costs $200 to join the team.
We interviewed multiple students at the K-8 who are playing the club season, and they all said that they were excited to improve their skills with another opportunity to play another season. One of the many people we interviewed was Zara, and she said, “I’m excited to get more playing time.” We also interviewed a couple of other students at the K-8 that played the club season last year, and they all said that they were excited to spend more time with their team and coaches and to improve their skills greatly.

Most of the players playing the club season this year have played in the past and have at least played the school volleyball season. There are two different teams: the fifth and a sixth-grade team and a 7th-grade team. This year instead of playing on different days, we will play on the same day during the tournament.
During practices, we are mostly working on bump -set -hits and control along with hitting serving and setting. The coaches for the two teams are Vivian and Eva. Vivian is coaching the 7th graders and Eva is coaching the 5th and 6th graders. Over all, the excitement of the club season is starting to get to the players.
