On Sunday, February 2, 2025, Dallas Mavericks star player, Luka Doncic, was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. Luka Doncic is a very strong player on offense, but not so much on defense. He was traded midway through the NBA season. 

 Many fans were surprised by this trade, and NBA players were surprised as well. There were a ton of videos going around of players finding out that Luka Doncic was traded to the Lakers. Local Lakers fan Ed said, “Like everyone else, I was surprised, and I think it was interesting that the Mavericks didn’t seek out a better player.” 

Luka Doncic started his NBA career at the age of 19 with the Atlanta Hawks, drafting him in the 2018 draft, but then they immediately traded him to the Dallas Mavericks. Luka has made 5 All-Star teams and won rookie of the year in the 2018-2019 season. Doncic is now on the LA Lakers.  

Doncic was traded for Anthony Davis, a very good defensive player. John Moran 5th grade teacher said, “Luka is now the face and future of the Lakers…The Mavericks will have more flexibility, but they won’t be much better.”
