After a disappointing loss to their rival, the Michigan Wolverines, the Ohio State Buckeyes went on a three game win streak in the NCAA College Football tournament, beating Tennessee–miraculously–#1 seed Oregon, and finally Texas to make it to the finals.

On Monday, January 20, 2025, the Ohio State Buckeyes clashed against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for the NCAA Championship game. The Fighting Irish snuck in a quick touchdown in the beginning of the game, taking the 7 point lead, and then the Buckeyes brought the intensity, scoring 4 touchdowns in a row, giving them the lead 28-7. They then scored a field goal giving them 3 more points.

Notre Dame attempted to come back, scoring 2 more touchdowns to bring them to 21-31 then successfully getting the two-point conversion bringing them to 23-31. At the end of the game Ohio State got one more field goal with very little time left in the game, declaring them National Champions.

Will Howard was named the offensive MVP and Cody Simon was named the defensive MVP. Overall, it was a very exciting playoff game and a pretty big upset, since Ohio was seeded No. 8 and defeated seeds 1, 5, and 7 to win the National Championship.
