On Jan. 7, 2025, Los Angeles, known as LA, is up in flames. LA has endured many fires in the past and this new one is already making its impact with its large coverage and its fast start. There were at least two fires, the Palisades and the Eaton fire, if there were more, they would most likely be small and devoured by the bigger fires. Both fires started on the same day; the Palisades Fire started at around 10:30 am. The Eaton at about 6:18 pm. Luckily, both fires have recently been 100% contained.

According to CalMatters, “In just a single month, 2025 is the second most destructive fire year in California history, with more than 16,000 homes and other structures damaged or destroyed by two fires in the Los Angeles area.”  How much money did this all cost? It is estimated to be around $250 billion to $275 billion. We found out about 29 people have passed away in this event, one of them being a former child actor, Rory Skyes.

The Los Angeles Food Bank is holding a place for donations for all of the fire victims. If you want to help out, you can donate to the California Fire Foundation on their website, or go to the LA Food Bank to do it in person. So far, they have raised about $650 million and it would be awesome if they could raise more.
