With over 230 fatalities and about 100 missing people, Hurricane Helene has been named the third most deadly hurricane of the 21st century. Helene was a category 4 hurricane, spreading over six states: Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia. Then there’s Hurricane Milton. Milton left 35 fatalities along with six people missing. Milton had only gone through Florida and was a category 3 hurricane.

The suspected cause of Hurricane Helene was because of the hot waters in the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico.  Milton is a long lasting tropical distriburbance, which is essentially a less powerful hurricane.
