On Nov. 5 the presidential Election between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump happened. On this day they  determined the new president of the United States.

This election relied heavily on the swing states. These are the states that can go either  republican or democratic. The votes were counted and Donald Trump won the election with Popular and Electoral votes. His victory is considered a really big event in history because he won back the presidency only 4 years after his last term. Trump was running against Kamala Harris who would have been the first ever female president. Harris won 68 million votes from the people which is really good, but compared to the 73 million votes Donald Trump won, that number won’t be enough.

The Mendocino K-8’s 7th and 8th grade classes voted in our history class. We had quite a variety of opinions though, I’m not sure everybody took it seriously or fully understood the full picture of how you do it. Most of the votes were for Harris. Trump was only 17.2% but Harris had 39.7% of the votes not including the US senators, US house of representatives, and the California State Assembly District 2 .Kamala  The reason that I feel like some people took it as a joke was because they weren’t taking who they voted for seriously or voting for someone that they didn’t actually support. It wasn’t super important that we voted super seriously in this little experiment with the class because it was nothing super important, but it was cool to see people’s opinions on the matter.
