John Moran the 5th grade teacher takes his students on weekly walks in the forest behind the school. They learn about the plants and animals, play games and build cool forts. They go every Friday at the end of the day and his students love it. He’s been doing them as long as he has been teaching, which is about 17 years. He wants his students to be exposed to nature and get some exercise in the process.

We interviewed a 5th grader named River. We found he enjoys learning and making fun memories. He likes to test the kids by asking them questions like what is this, and if they get it wrong he just asks someone else so they have a chance to answer too. We looked at their fort and took pictures of all the cool stuff in the forest. We found a praying mantis but it got away before we could take a picture of it. We could not stay for the whole thing and we took a different path back to the school
