On Oct. 6, 2024, Grant M. and I, Parker K. went to see The Wild Robot, which is a movie adaptation of the book The Wild Robot, in our local theater. We will share our thoughts on the movie, as well as compare it to how accurate it was to the book.

The Wild Robot, directed by Chris Sanders, is a good film. I interviewed Grant M. as we were working on this article, “The movie’s animation was quite exquisite”, he said. I agree, the animation was beautiful. It had a unique style but still stayed true to the source material from the book.

Although we enjoyed the movie, how did it compare to the book? You might have read a good book before, and gotten excited when you discover that it has a movie adaptation, just to find out that the movie is trash! Well, I’m happy to say that The Wild Robot was a great movie, along with the book of course. They were able to flesh out Roz, and Brightbill, the two main characters’ relationship with book-like details. Therefore Grant and I think there was no question that it was a good movie representation.

In conclusion, The Wild Robot is a movie that I would recommend to either a family or a fan of the book. Grant and I both enjoyed the movie and the book but, if we hadn’t read the book it wouldn’t have been as good, and definitely more suitable for a younger audience. The movie is now available on YouTube, Prime Video, and Apple TV, but still for a fee. So will you watch The Wild Robot?
